Starting out a new life can be nerve-racking. You could be only a few minutes away from changing your life and still cannot figure out why you want to do so and if you are truly ready for the change. You then start to panic and sometimes your mind goes crazy trying to find last minute answers.
He wanted to flee from the grasp of the beast that is marriage but when he caught a gaze at his mother, the the one who assumed airs, he changed his foolish idea. He was wondering why his mother did not look at all drained from the entire exhausting task of organizing the eventful day.

Exhaling a mournful sigh, I earned a look from the priest and a teasing poke (ouch!) from the best man, my brother. Even without turning around, I could see his grin. “Wait till it is your turn,” I muttered to myself.

It was not that I was against the institution of marriage. It was not that I was not attracted to my wife-to-be, albeit ours was an arranged match. I did. I just felt as a young energetic thirty year old, I still wanted my freedom. Needless to say, I did not suffer from any Bridget Jones-like complex. My fiancée and I have discussed extensively and we agreed to remain unattached as long as possible. But Mother changed her mind with the all powerful warning, “Time and tide wait for no one”. Honestly, the truth be told, I was not a little apprehensive of major changes.

He finally gave in to his mother’s proposal although he didn’t know why exactly. He probably just wanted to satisfy her. She wanted to have grandchildren at a much younger age.

Preparing for a wedding ceremony is by far most agonizing for couples. Nobody can forget about their beautiful wedding but not a soul would want to go through the horrendous labor they went though in putting it all together. Nevertheless, canceling it on the last minute would not be an intelligent thing to do. Photo-taking and shopping-the things people normally enjoy was most unbearable in the circumstance of preparing for wedding. They had to get down even to the most trivial items.

Although its true no one pays attention to details, they will know when these things are left out. This was what his mother warned him when they were at the cake house.

He could no longer disagree with his mother.

But nothing can top the shock that came two days ago, my bride’s gowns and accessories. Down to the last earring and bit of lace, they simply took my breath away - without me seeing the actual paraphernalia; the bill was enough!

Could clothes actually cost so much? She would not be wearing it for long anyway!

The sound of the organ woke him from his thoughts.

He was amazed to see how gorgeous she was as she stood in the sunlit spot. He felt like dying when she approached him.

A man is usually awed by the beauty of his bride. Only at that moment do they realize why the real reason why they had agreed to the whole thing.

Three steps away, she lifted her gaze to me. I saw the uncertainty and doubt in her shining eyes replaced by calm tranquility. That singular moment transformed my entire life. In a flash of understanding, I saw that she was giving her life, her trust, her love to me…. and how could I return any less?

I held out my hand. She took it. My fingers closed around hers. This was it - our choice, our commitment.

As they turned to the priest, he secretly made a promise that he would never let her down. Although they may have their bad days, this would not shake him. This is because he now knows that the most important thing for them is to keep together and try to raise a family.

The only thing that a couple need is love and when they realize that they have it they will feel very lucky indeed.

Only then will saying “I do” be as easy as taking one’s breath.
